Day 26 of Wonder

Australia Day! Celebrated by many, mourned by many others. Let's face it today, is a celebration for a nation of immigrants. Modern Australia.

To be honest, I'm in awe of those who sought a new life in a land so far from their land of birth. They must have known they would never return.

Ancient Australia has another story. Steeped in ancient traditions, stories and diverse peoples. While all countries are lands of migration, Australia is a unique blend of the very old and isolated with one of the newest established colonies. Maybe we can't make one story from it, but we can celebrate each part. I vote we aim for a day of unification. A day when modern and ancient find a common path/voice. That would be a day worth celebrating!
