365 Days of Wonder

Curiosity finally won and we set out on a mission to discover something about this massive wind turbine that we frequently viewed from various points in the area. It always looked bigger than life from a distance. We wanted to know if this was just a trick of the eye, or was it truly a monolith of modern life? Well, reaching 138 metres above ground the mast is impressive enough. Add another 41 metres, the length of one blade, and it extends a full 179 metres from base to tip. Situated on a high plain, surrounded by fields, it is totally impressive in size and concept. A local initiative, it provides at least 1200 households with power throughout the year. Despite all their claimed faults, I can't help but be slightly awed by these gentle giants.
