Day 158 of Wonder

Just occasionally I'll stumble across a flower that I just can't believe exists. In this case the very size of it stopped me in my tracks. After a little investigation I discovered it's a Japanese peony called Butter Bowl. The name does not do justice to this gorgeous long stemmed flower but once again I'm grateful to the local gardeners who have discovered this amazing flower and filled their gardens with them. The petals alone cry out to be touched. A living wonder of nature.
